THE INTERNET IS WATCHING YOU

 You may have noticed during this election cycle that Trump voters are not just excited about their candidate but are certain in manic ways he's going to win.

The same could be said for Biden voters. 

Which is true?  And if you find out that your information is being completely doctored to your wants instead of what's really happening, will you accept it?

The new MUST-SEE documentary, THE SOCIAL DILEMMA, shows you that the only way to know is for you to turn your eyes away from your social media accounts.  Essentially, they are your drug, you are their product and you are being manipulated, whether you realize it or not.  

How can this film make such assertions?

Give 90 minutes of your life to the programmers and creators of all your social media platforms:  Facebook, Google, Snapchat, Instagram, and others sit down and explain to you through dramatizations and their own first-hand knowledge of how you are being controlled. 

It will disturb you.  It will unsettle you.  Hopefully, it will get you to act. 

First of all, they all advise you limit your child's interaction with the internet, particularly with any account in THEIR OWN NAME.  Second, it will get you to realize that your perspective on the world is being skewed by complex algorithms -- A.I. essentially, that is learning and re-learning your wants, needs, and cues to engage you for longer and longer periods of time on your accounts.

Hate Joe Biden and think the left is out to get you? - Google will make sure your searches show things that prove this to be true -- conspiracy materials, opinions and other multiple sources to confirm your beliefs will assault you.

Think Trump is the devil? - you too will be engaged with everything Trump has done wrong (the list seems interminably long) to confirm this as well.

Think this is crazy?

Before the 2016 election, Americans had never questioned the outcome of their elections besides the 2002 election between Al Gore and GW Bush, Jr.  The controversy in Florida caused the first real worry in America that elections could be manipulated.  Yet, no one questioned the election of our first Black President, Barack Obama.  And few really questioned Donoald Trump's Electoral College win in 2016, though Trump had threatened he would call into question the "rigged" election system if he lost.

Now, Americans in droves are questioning en masse as to whether the safest election system in the world, despite hacking attempts, is solvent.  Our entire Democracy has moved from trusting our long-successful systems and institutions to near collapse, where distrust and paranoia is leading us down toward a dystopian world portrayed in our worst sci-fi film nightmares.

I know I was changed by this movie.  How I will institute this change will be measure by my wife's reaction to it when I watch it again with her.
