AS GUN MANUFACTURERS LAUGH THEMSELVES TO THE BANK

Don't do it.

I beg you.

You are feeling afraid.  We all are.  The events of this past weekend are terrifying.

And the number one reaction to mass shooting events in America is a sharp uptick in gun sales.

That's right.

Fifty-nine people are dead.  Over five hundred are in hospitals or recovering somewhere else, and the gun manufacturers and shops are smiling at all of it.  Because they're about to see their stocks rise.

They're about to get a big Christmas bonus this year, courtesy of Stephen Paddock.

This article on CNBC says the rise in sales is about the possible banning of guns.

Then there's this article in 2012 in the wake of Newtown, same thing.  Although this one delves a little deeper than a political notion - it mentions fear.

Fear drives all of this.

You're afraid all the bad people have guns, and you don't.  That you'll be caught off guard and left helpless to defend yourself.

It's understandable.  There's nothing more frightening than envisioning a scenario where a person approaches you and pulls a gun on you, or worse, you and your family.  I have two kids and a wife.  I can imagine it.

But let's point out one other thing.  Go to YouTube and look up how many police officers get shot and killed (and it's on video).  These are guys who are trained to be at the ready, have a gun holstered to their hip, most wear body armor, and yet even then, with all that in their pocket and to their advantage, often die in simple traffic stops.

Don't do it.

Don't go make Smith & Wesson and Colt and Remington and Savage and any of these other king assholes who make their living pushing an agenda in Congress that denies there is a gun problem one more red cent.  And it is a RED cent, as bloody as a cent can be.

Seek help from a counselor.

Go find a way to help other people and remind yourself of the good that is out there that never gets a moment of the evening news.

Adopt a child and make his or her life safe and better so they don't grow up alone in the world and lonely enough to do something like this.

Do something, anything.....

But DON'T GO BUY A GUN!
